Reform of the Climate Change Act
Finland aims to be carbon neutral by 2035. The new Climate Change Act entered into force in July 2022.

Each government draws up an energy and climate strategy.
Medium-term Climate Change Policy Plan
The plan is drawn up during each electoral term, and it includes an action programme to reduce emissions in the non-emissions trading sectors, i.e. the effort-sharing sector.

In accordance with the Government Programme, sectoral low-carbon roadmaps have been drawn up in cooperation with companies and organisations in the relevant sectors.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is preparing a Climate Food Programme aimed to support the transition of society towards a climate-sustainable food system.
